    Sunshine drink / Mocktails to beat the heat

    Sunshine drink is an easy and refreshing summer drink. It has the goodness of carrots along with orange and mangoes.

    It’s been five days since the National Lock Down was imposed. I hope, all of you are safe at home. It is best to isolate ourself and maintain social distancing. Let’s race to fight Coronavirus.

    The temperature is soaring and one needs to keep well hydrated. Watermelon juice is the best drink for summer.  The Coconut Cucumber cooler is equally refreshing. Lassis are the Indian summer drinks which everyone can relate to. Cucumber lassi is spicy and tasty while the Punjabi Lassi is loved by all.  Here is a healthy mocktail  that you can make in just five minutes.

    What is mocktail?

    Mocktail is mixed, non-alcoholic drink usually served during parties.  Different kinds of mocktail are made, it is something similar  to a cocktail sans the alcohol.

    What goes in the Sunshine drink ?

    This is an orange, mango and carrot juice . The carrots give a good taste to the juice.

    Carrot : It is a good source of beta carotene, fibre, vitamin K1, potassium and anti-oxidants. They are good for heart and eyes. They are figure-friendly.

    Mango : It is rich in Vitamin C, pectin and fibre. Moreover, it is available only in summer.

    Orange: It is rich in Vitamin C.

    Sunshine Drink Recipe

    Ingredients:
    • 1 cup mango chunks
    • 1.5 cup orange juice
    • 2 carrots
    • a little black salt
    • water as required
    Method:
    1. Freeze the mango chunks for sometime.
    2. Grate the carrot.
    3. Put the carrot in a juicer and swirl it.
    4. Add mango chunks, again swirl.
    5. Lastly, put the orange juice and salt and mix altogether.
    6. Add water if required.
    7. Pour in glass and serve.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 cup mango chunks
    • 1.5 cup orange juice
    • 2 carrots
    • a little black salt
    • water as required

    Method

    February is the shortest but the most awaited one. Everything seems to be beautiful during this season. It’s the season of love and beauty.

    Valentine’s Day is round the corner and this post is dedicated for this special V- Day. A few lines from my pen

    Valentine’s Day also called as Saint Valentine Day or Feast of saint Valentine is celebrated on February 14th every year. It is observed as a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love in many regions around the world.

    Here is a refreshing drink for Valentine’s Day 🙂

    Strawberry Mojito is a refreshing non-alcoholic drink for any bright sunny day.

    Ingredients:

    • 6 strawberries
    • 500 ml water
    • 4 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 lemon
    • 10 mint leaves
    • a few mint leaves to garnish
    • ice cubes

    Method:

    1. Cut the lemon into wedges.
    2. Mull the lemon wedges and mint leaves.
    3. Put the sugar and water to it and keep it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
    4. Make a puree of the strawberries.
    5. Strain the juice.
    6. Add the strawberry pulp to it.
    7. Garnish with a few mint leaves and ice cubes. Serve immediately.

    Ingredients
      

    • 6 strawberry

    Method

    Mint ginger cooler makes a refreshing drink for summer. It is ideal to serve as a welcome drink or a mocktail   to beat the heat.

    Summer is at it’s peak, one needs to keep hydrated by taking lot of fluids. Drinks that you can make easily are watermelon juice, coconut cumber cooler and lemon iced tea . Today, I am sharing a favourite recipe of mine, Mint Ginger Cooler

    What goes in the drink?

    Lemons are rich source of Vitamin C. They help to keep the body hydrated . They also aid in weight loss. They reduce the risk of anaemia, kidney stone, heart disease and cancer.

    Mint: It is a great appetizer and aids in digestion, nausea and headache. It also helps to fight depression.

    Ginger:  It aids in absorption of essential nutrients. It helps to maintain normal blood circulation.

    Sugar : It is one of the essentials in a juice. Otherwise, you need to replace with sweeteners.

    Lemon: It is rich source of Vitamin C, helps to boost energy.

    Water : It is the main ingredient that you need to mix all others into it.

    Mint Ginger Cooler

    Mint Ginger Cooler is a  refreshing drink to serve anytime.

    Ingredients:

    • For the concentrate :
    • sugar 3/4 cup
    • water 3 glasses
    • ginger 1 inch
    • mint leaves 15-20
    • lemon 1 big
    • black salt 1/4 tsp

    Instructions:

    1. Wash the mint leaves and tap dry on a cloth. Wash the ginger and scrub it well. Grind both of them together.
    2. Take a bowl, add water and mix in the sugar. Put the mint ginger paste, black salt and the lime juice and give a stir. Keep it in the refrigerator for atleast two hours. The flavours of mint infuse with time.
    3. Later, strain it using a thin metal sieve or strainer.
    4. Mint ginger cooler is ready to serve.

    Mint Ginger Cooler can also be called as Mint Ginger Lemonade.

    Kiwi Lemonade is a refreshing summer drink.

    The harsh heat of April is unbearable. One needs to take a lot of fluids to keep hydrated. Fresh fruit juices are healthy and easy to make. This Kiwi lemonade is refreshing and ideal to beat the heat.

    Kiwi is another super food which is packed with anti oxidants and vitamin E. It is rich in Vitamin C and K. It also consists copper, potassium and folate. It is found to be good against heart disease and lowers the blood sugar level. It helps to fight against cancer. It is low calorie food with high nutririon. Thus, one needs to add a few of these in their diet.

    Kiwi is a fruit which has a mixed taste but it is awesome. The green pulpy fruit with crunchy black seeds is liked by kids. Do give a try to this lemonade,  we are enjoying it.

    A few tips to beat the heat:

    Drink adequate quantity of water, atleast two litres is needed during summer. Use seasonal fruits such as water melon and grapes. Buttermilk is an excellent source of nutrition.  Tender coconut water is very good for health. Avoid coffee.     A refreshing drink for summer

    Ingredients

    • 2 Kiwi
    • 1 lemon
    • 2 teaspoon sugar
    • 3 glass water
    • salt a pinch
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
    • a few  ice cubes

    Method :

    1. Remove the skin of kiwi and cut into quarters.
    2. Blend it to a puree.
    3. Add sugar, lime juice, salt pepper powder and water. Give a swirl.
    4. Kiwi lemonade is ready in a jiffy. Serve it with an ice cube.

    Take a tip :

    • It is ideal to use cold water if you have.
